Derga is an unsewn part of women's clothing on the lower part of the body, upper women's clothing in the form of a dark-colored sheet. It was worn on a weekday, and a sheet was worn on holidays. This name was used in central and eastern Ukraine, in other areas this unstitched part of women's clothing was called opinka, horbotka, fota, zasparka.
Derga was sewn from thick rough cloth woven from sheep's wool, 60-70 cm wide. It was dyed red or black. Three meters of such cloth were cut into three parts and sewn together, thus obtaining one cloth, which was wrapped around the waist and girded with a belt. Derg was worn the most in Poltava region and Kharkiv region.
