Korablyk (from Ukrainian "small ship") is a traditional headdress of noble married women, which was common throughout Ukraine during Cossack times.
A korablyk is a small women's cap of an oblong-rounded shape with low edges that fit tightly to the socket, and horns sticking out from the front and back. During Cossack times, such korablyks were widely used. Then their front and rear ends were made double and therefore such a cap looked like it had four horns or ears. Such caps were then made of brocade and velvet, and the lapels were made of fur. At the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries, korablyks were already very rare, they were worn then mainly in Kharkiv region and Voronezh region. And they were made at that time already from cloth with velvet lapels. Korablyks were carried only by married women. Korablyks are depicted in the drawings of Tymofiy Kalinsky on noble maidens and middle-class women, later at the end of the 19th century, korablyks were worn by women from the common population.
