Glory to Ukraine! During the war of the Ukrainian army against the Moscow horde, Chornobaivka became a kind of meme and symbol of the destruction of orc troops. It is because of that our defenders defeated Russian troops more than 10 times. And therefore we decided to tell you legend about the devastating village Chornobayivka.
At the end of the 18th century, in turbulent times for Ukrainians, Sich soldiers commanded by Ataman Petro Chornobrov guarded the southern borders of Ukraine. And one day they went to the lower flows of Slavutych, today's Dnipro, to intercept the sinister Tatar invasions on the Crimean Peninsula.
Chornobrov was well known between both Tatars and Turks, so they avoided meeting him. They called it the Black Bay. From the Turkic languages it can be translated as «lord», great landowner or herdsman, and the closest environment of the ataman began to call him Chornobay.
Together, with Cossacks, they built three stone fortresses in one summer and named them Chornobayivska, Gusakivska and Stepanivska. In the conditional center of this triangle was later built the Cossack Church of the Intercession of the Theotokos and graveyard near.
Once a time a large troop of Busurmans stopped near Slavutych with looted property and captured girls and women. Chornobay's group numbered about 150 men, and despite the fact that there were many more enemies, they defeated them and there were wounded only 20 Sich soldiers.
Then, a priest was brought from a nearby village. He ordered to the liberated girls to throw their chains out into the Verevchyna River, which was sprinkled with the blood of enemies, while the Priest was reciting strong protective prayers. Since then, Chornobaivka has been considered a "spoken" and invincible place that breaks the chains, regardless of enemy forces and many other aspects.
This village symbolises Ukrainians, who can't be conquered, because it is under the protection of God himself. And Petro Chornobrov is still standing in line with our soldiers! Goodbye!
