What to do if during the interview you find that the proposed position does not suit you

You are going through an interview and suddenly realize that the position and the content of the job described in the ad do not meet your expectations. You are offered to work at unusual hours, for a lower salary, or just an inner feeling tells you that neither the enterprise nor the employees are suitable for you.
What to do if you have already decided for yourself that the proposed position still does not meet your expectations?

Don't rush to leave!

It seems self-evident that a candidate, if only out of courtesy, will not stand up in the middle of an interview and say, "That's it, I'm leaving." However, we encourage candidates to draw the interviewer's attention to aspects that worry them, cause confusion, and cause them to withdraw from their nomination. Who knows, maybe there is a quick and easy solution to your problem?

Don't burn bridges!

It sounds like a cliché, but not burning bridges behind you can be beneficial. Perhaps during the interview you decided that this position is not suitable for you, and you only think about how to leave as soon as possible. However, it may happen that the interviewer will someday work at the enterprise of your dreams and begin to interview you again. It's a shame if a long-standing situation prevents you from getting a dream job, when you were too dismissive (if not incorrect) about the process of getting a job.

Always give feedback!

If you decide to no longer apply for this position, we advise you to always explain why you decided so. If you communicate with an employer, it may happen that he will offer you another, more suitable position. And if not immediately, then in the future. The same applies to communicating directly with the enterprise - perhaps they have similar positions or other opportunities. Often, candidates only at the last moment report that the position is not of interest to them, or even worse, stop answering calls or emails and seem to fall through the ground!

Treat the conversation as an experience!

As a candidate, you may be disappointed that you took the time to write a meaningful and correct motivation letter, took a free day for an interview, perhaps even came to another city for this. Despite the fact that you no longer apply for the position, we advise you to calmly think about what you have learned. Will you be able to ask better questions at the next interview, do you know what to pay attention to right away, or did you just gain valuable experience preparing for the interview?

Remember that whatever the reason for your disappointment in the interview, it still brought you one step closer, not further away from your dream job.
