Uplitky (decoration)

Uplitky are woven in the form of braids, red harus threads or ribbons of red harus threads woven into braids. Ukrainians, usually Hutsul girls, decorate their uplitky with copper plaques or buttons. Most often, uplitky are wrapped around the head, forming a peculiar crown of braids.

Ukrainians, usually Hutsul girls, parted their hair in two and braided two braids, into which they wove red threads with buttons. After that, braids were placed on the head and braided with thick red threads (braids) so that no hair was visible from under the threads. The ends of the ribbons with threads hung freely down to the shoulders. The whole hairstyle was also decorated with fresh flowers on top - braided. The hair above the forehead was smeared with honey.
